Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Scene in 3rd Period During class we started to make some fun things in class that will you just got to see it to believe it. Me and my partner Taylor did a scene from the story "Tall Tell Heart". The book is about how a man kills his friend who is every old because of his eye. You see the man has an eye that is blue and looks evil in a way. I have a video from the scene we did together. I hope all of you guys like. Plus don't be scared to comment on what you see so thanks and hope you enjoy.

           So, it’s our day off, everyone sleeps in, right? WRONG! I got up today at 6:30 a.m. so that I could go to District Leadership Conference for FCCLA. It was a lot of fun.  My favorite part was the Keynote Speaker, Chris Bowers.  He started by making us stand up and sing the song “Singin’ in the Rain” to show that if  we want to, we can have fun with everything.  He then talked about fun things to do in Walmart, such as playing tag or buying all the things you would need if you were a serial killer.  He told us that anything can be fun, which is true.  There was a lot of funny stories of him and his friends, and it was a really fun time.  After the speaker half of the schools went to lunch while the other half stayed and participated in a quiz bowl.  Luckily, we were in the first group, I was HUNGRY!  When it was our time for the quiz bowl, we did a great job! (Thanks Morgan!) 

We had ‘breakout sessions’ where everyone could pick from different sessions to visit. Some of these sessions included relationship violence, organ donors, zumba, snacks, and many more.  I went to the relationship violence and zumba. I learned a lot and got some exercise. 

Another thing that happened today were parent teacher conferences.  I’m guessing since my mom didn’t yell at me, that no one had anything bad to say.  Our Ag teacher told me I was perfect (surprising, I know.)

            So, even though I would have liked to sleep in and enjoy a lazy day at home, I had a lot of fun and will surely go again next year! J

English 8 at OHS (2012-2013): 9-17-12 by Savannah O. Today in school we learned about The Nonliving Environment, and how organisms need Abiotic Factors. Also The food chain First the Producer, then Herbivores, and then Carnivores. We are working on a assignment for it too. The second Picture Is all of us in choir! We are going to sing Bons as baa. Monday, Oct. 1 by Clint

Today in English we talked about our CBL project and wrote down questions on our topic. Later after English in Science, we talked about living creatures way down at the Ocean floor. Then in Social Studies we reviewed the names of the states. Finally at the end of the day the JR. High had a football game against the Valentine Badgers but sadly the B team lost 0 to 12 then the A team came back and won 34 to 0.

Friday in English class we got the work on your CBL project. My groups CBL project is about how schools test too much and their testing hours.

But lets back up to what happened this morning. In Civics we play a game that we divided up into teams and we had boys against girls. Girls lost. 

 

In reading we ready our graphic novels my is about the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby.

           Today in Mr. Hessie first period Social Studies we did a electoral college game where we found out which canident would win either Obama (boys) or Romney (girls). Obama won by alot (but that's not to be bragging). In English we went over our CBL project over view, and make into an essay and made sure that we all post reply's to our group members from, UNL, Lincoln High School, and Omaha Burke. In science we went over our work book packet. In reading we went over vocab,  recognizing main idea and details, and other students read there 55 word story. We had a math test is the math.

        Today in our first period class, we acted like we had the presidential election in our class. It was awesome.  One side was Obama, and the other was Romney. We rolled dice and which ever dice had the higher number, it won the electoral vote for the selected state and the popular vote was the number on the dice. I kept on rolling ones. (I wasn't the best at the game) The side I was on was for Obama and we won the election. Pretty cool.

        In reading, we were assigned to make 55 word poems. They are really fun to make. This is a picture of the one that I wrote. I wouldn't say that I am the best at making these, but I guess that I can give it a try! It was difficult to get exactly 55 words but you just have to keep thinking and it will come to you. Mine was totally random.

In English class, it was Emily's day to bring gum. It is a thing that we do at our table. Everyone has an assigned day to bring gum. It is just a little fun thing that we like to do. In the middle picture, we had to get on our class blog page and look at the posts of the daily blogs. In the last picture, Devin was working on his CBL writing project. We had to choose a topic and then write about it in our groups. The only way that I could be interested in it is that if I did something that I knew about. Like poaching animals. That concludes on what happened today.

Daily Blogger 9-26-12

     Today in English class we worked on sentences and the proper way to write them. Even though many people think it is boring; it's actually something that we will use for the wrest of our lives. I also figured out that it is pretty fun to diagram sentences. I think that every 8th grader would agree that reading class was the best. We got to act out scenes from the books and stories we have read. The teachers had prizes for the best actor, actress, and group. Esteban, Sidney B.,  Tejlor (me), Parker, and Mackenzie Were some of the winners with today's scenes. Also, I got a picture of some Senior girls just well, being seniors. :)

Hiya,

       

        Today, September 25, our homework was short probably due to the fact the 7th and 8th graders had a volleyball and football game tonight. The volleyball players dressed-up and the football players got to wear their jerseys.

Math we were just reviewing exponents from last year. It wasn't that hard to revive a nerve about the lesson.

Science we got to talk about the iBooks were going to create. It was a brainstorming day to talk with our groups about the subject. 

Social Studies we got into our little groups for the United States project. My group has the Midwest which it convenient because Nebraska is in this region. 

Reading we studied our vocabulary words to prepare for the test and read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and answered questions about the first little clip.

Study Hall and Choir we didn't have any anything.

English were starting on a weekly DGP sheet to work on our grammar and we had a worksheet about simple sentences that's due tomorrow. Don't forget to give feedback to the poems its due Thursday.

At Technology were working on Choose Your Ending contest on under-age drinking. Sidney and I had interviews with teachers and students on what they think of the situation. We just have to edit. 

Finally it time for volleyball and football. The football game was spent in Ord so we didn't get to see, but the score was 12-8. On the other hand the volleyball game was at the Elementary School. There was in Intrasquade Scrimmage in the beginning of the game that many didn't get to see. The 7th graders beat Stuart in the first two sets, but bad luck happened to the 8th graders. They lost 2 sets and won 1 set altogether, but the scores we all very close.

Even though we lost, the important thing is that we can get better from our mistakes.

Thank goodness it’s Friday.  Today was a great day probably only because it was Friday.  In Civics we did Hot Seat City, which is where we go around the room and answer questions, and if we get them right we get candy!  In English we got together in groups and went over our CBL (Challenge Based Learning) project overview so that we can submit them to our blogs.  In science Mr. Morrow corrected our vocab therefore we got to study for our test next Tuesday.  In reading we had our vocab test and worked on our bookmarks.  (As you can see we have a lot of vocab.)   IN math we had an easy assignment (benefits of Friday) and in AG we worked on a project that the class is doing.  Also, the high school football team played and won once again against Ainsworth.  During the school day the players were wearing their jerseys and many people were supporting them and wearing school colored shirts.  We had a lot of blue, white, and black shirts in the building.  Great job Eagles!  Once again a great Friday leading to a great weekend.
