Monday, Sept. 24 by Serena

Monday the 24th

Today, Monday the 24th, was the first day of the week. For many not the best day of the week, but for me it was an ok day. First thing was math. Math I have some troubles in but i think my assignments and many redo's later i did a good job on the test, I hope. Then I go to science. Science wasn't to much just reviewing for the test coming up soon and finishing a packet. History was interesting like always. Our teacher Mr. Hostert is pretty awesome I must say. After that it's reading, we got our new bookmark (which I already finished, over achiever; not.) Study Hall, well I always goof around in there. This time I worked on math homework and got my grade up a little. Choir we sang a lot! (obviously) It's english, now we have to do DGP every day right when class starts. (DGP-Daily Grammar Practice Worksheet) In guidance we had root beer floats. (yummo) Then came time for volleyball, the practice was great! The day before game day practice is always my favorite.

Today I woke up to the sound of One Direction, is there anything better? I sat in the car sipping on my coffee. When suddenly I was at school, I had this feeling today was going to be wicked. I hung out in Mrs. Kelly's class this morning, like usual, she loves me. After that I walked the whole two foot difference to my next class, math. I'm not the best at math, but I'm okay. Then to science, we have a praying mantis, named Leroy. We didn't have 3rd period today because we had an assembly where this man talked about bullying, his son took his own life because of a bully. It was very touching and made me want to speak up and help. If you want to learn more go to: http://www.standforthesilent.org/ Afterwards we went to 4th period which for me is reading with the awesome Mrs. Troester. Then to choir and band, we didn't actually play in band today, we marched. In choir we sang Bonse Aba a song from who-knows-where, but its really fun to sing. After that we had lunch, that's pretty self-explanatory, but for those who don't know we sit, eat, and socialize with each other. Then to English, with Mrs. Troester, where we read other people's blogs and printed off our narratives, mine is about St. Pat's Day when I was little. If you want to read it go here: likeablogmp.blogspot.com 7th period was pretty fun too. We are designing websites and I have my own advice column. Isn't that great?! Volleyball is another one of my favorite times of the day we scrimmaged today because we had a game. We didn't end up winning, but it was still a blast and the 7th grade won one of their sets!

Today September 25 was an awesome day. Some of us eighth graders and some seventh graders had to dress up for volleyball and then the football players had to wear their jerseys today because they had a game. In English we learned about this worksheet that we are going to do everyday from now on called DGP (Daily Grammar Practice).  Then we had a worksheet for homework on Simple Sentences Level 2. After that today in school we didn’t learn very much except in math, reading, band and English. All the other classes we presented or we worked on things we learned before today. Seventh and Eighth graders today went to the elementary for a scrimmage and a game for volleyball.  In the scrimmage the seventh graders won but we were kind of close. In the first game seventh graders against seventh graders we won against the Stuart Broncos. Then the eighth graders were really close to winning all three sets. The football players won 12-8. I hope our volleyball team and football team keep doing well throughout the season.

September 26 - Tejlor

Today in English class we worked on sentences and the proper way to write them. Even though many people think it is boring; it's actually something that we will use for the wrest of our lives. I also figured out that it is pretty fun to diagram sentences. I think that every 8th grader would agree that reading class was the best. We got to act out scenes from the books and stories we have read. The teachers had prizes for the best actor, actress, and group. Esteban, Sidney B.,  Tejlor (me), Parker, and Mackenzie Were some of the winners with today's scenes. Also, I got a picture of some Senior girls just well, being seniors. :)

Monday, Sept. 17, by Lauren O.

Hey, readers!
Today, Mrs. Troester’s English class talked about our writing exchange that we do between UNL (University of Nebraska at Lincoln), Lincoln High, and my school.  We went over some of the guidelines, and even got our first post assignment.

Now, this post may sound like I’m always in English class, but that’s not at all true.  We did regular math things in math class (shocking, right?), discussed biotic and abiotic factors in science, and I’m pretty sure we just did our “flight simulation” in geography, but I missed most of that class.
In reading with Mrs. Troester, we looked over our bookmarks for the book, The Outsiders,  and put people in our fishbowl.  Not literally, we just make the selected people sit in the middle of the room and go over their summarizer, questioner, literary luminary, or connector sheets.

We recorded our marching show in band, and sang in choir (obviously), and in guidance we had to preform some skits.  Ours consisted of us sitting and reading aloud in monotone.  Boring, right?
That gives you a basic run-down of my typical day here at OHS.
Until my next post..... Crazy Girl (Lauren)

9-14-12 By: Emily M

We started our day with the last dress-up day judging in the gym. The theme was blue and white our grade had grade costumes that definitely deserved to win, although we only had one winner in our grade, Sydney Z.

In reading class we finished The Outsiders, I can’t wait to find out what we will read next.
In English class we broke into groups for our Challenge Based Learning Project. The groups consisted of the people who had the same topic in mind. We also talked about ways to get your message out and also how other people got their message out. For example we talked about Impossible to Possible and many other inspirational people or groups to help us get ideas for our projects.
Later today was the O’Neill Cross Country Meet invite, our Junior High and High School runners placed really well. I also attended the O’Neill Eagles’ Homecoming Football game. The Eagles won! Our Football team is now has 3 wins and 0 losses, keep it up Eagles!
