Even though today wasn’t a normal day, it was still a good day. For the first two periods we took the Nebraska Statewide Writing Test. After that, we went to Science and took a test there as well. Next, we went to Reading. In Reading we are reading a play version of The Diary of Anne Frank. It is a long story because we have been reading it for over a week. After that, we went to Study Hall. We took time to go look at the pictures hung in the Activities Building for state wrestling. During Lunch we smushed our blueberries to make blueberry juice. It was too watery, though. After Lunch we had Math. In Math we worked on IXL. IXL is a website we use to review our math skills. Next, we had Business Trends. In Business Trends we finished a worksheet over the city of O’Neill. It was mainly about the origination of the town. When we finished that we watched an episode of Shark Tanks. Shark Tank is a show where people bring in their ideas and they ask for money for a certain percent of their business. Last, we had P.E. In P.E. we played ping pong and I did really well. Tonight are the Mid-states for basketball. Our team is going to play Pierce at Norfolk Catholic and hopefully they will do well. Although we had a lot of tests, the day went well.

I woke up to quite a surprise today. I opened my laptop to do homework before school and the screen was cracked. I didn’t know what happened. I thought Mrs. Morrow was going to be mad, but I told her what happened and she said it happens all the time. After that in first period I had History, which is usually fun. We were showing presentations to the class. My second period is Algebra. Third period is Science and is usually fun. Mr. Morrow still has his great teaching technique.

Fourth and fifth period went bye, then lunch. After lunch I had English. In English we practiced our NASA writing tests. I had my whole practice test done. All five paragraphs, I was on the last sentence. It was a good narrative and all five paragraphs got highlighted and I accidently deleted it. There was not much time left so I only got two sentences wrote before I had to submit it. I was very upset.

For the rest of the day we didn't do much so i will just skip to basketball practice. Unlike everybody else, I drive to practice and they are jealous because i get there first and get the best basketball. So that was my Friday and all of you have a good day.

There are a lot of things that goes on at OHS, but in this particular day I started off with Geography class with Mr. Hesse. We got to choose our own topic that we were interested in from a list, then we are suppose to make a presentation to show to the whole class on Thursday or Friday. Next, I went to algebra ½ with Mr. Hilker where we just did a review of what we did from last Friday. After algebra, I went to reading, and in reading class and we worked on our bookmarks and teenbiz. Then in science class we watched each other’s video on Newton’s Law of Motion.
In the morning all we have is classes then after study hall we have lunch were everyone is pushing and shoving to get to the front of the line.  Lunch is almost everyone favorite part of the day including after school sports and other activities. Finally when were all done with lunch I go to English with Mr. Troester and we worked on hot tips, revised our paragraphs that we wrote last week, and scored them. Finally, my last subject of the day is Business Trends with Mrs. Appleby. We talked about entrepreneurs, and non-profit organization in her class. That’s about it, that happened at OHS on Monday.  Thanks for reading!

Today is January 18, 2013. I woke up from a goodnight's sleep refreshed and ready to go. Once I arrived at school I went to the lunch room and got a cinnamon roll, it was so delicious. In math we had six total problems over the work we did this week. Science came next; my partner and I airdropped our project to Mr. Morrow. Then I had civics; Jason and Lauren had to debate on a topic Mr. Hostart picked. Reading we had a test on vocab; which I think I did well. Study Hall is good because it means I won't have any homework. In English we wrote on our blogs, talked about our CBL project's. Sidney, Mia, and I are doing great on our project. We have two more steps and then we will be finished. In PE I think we are walking the track. Then at 5:30 I am going to basketball practice. Coach E convinced me. This is what happened today January 18th.

BRRRRRIINNNNGGGGGGGG!!!!!  I was woken up this morning at 6:20 by my extremely loud alarm clock, and then my parents woke me up 10 minutes later, since I had fallen back to sleep.  I got ready for the day and headed off to school with my older sister.
My first period class is Geography.  We read a magazine called Upfront.  We were then given time to work on our presentation which is due Thursday.  After that, I trudged off to Algebra 1 where we learned how to solve systems by substitution.  Confusing, right?
After Algebra, I go to Science.  We worked on multiple things, such as, vocabulary words, our notes packets, and watching some of our projects.  Next was Reading.  We did Vocabulary Lesson 10 today.  After that, I went to band and played my saxophone.  Mr. Dean, the teacher, is a great teacher.  Today, he found a jacket that belonged to a high school basketball player.  He put it on, but it was too small.  We later found out that it was a girl’s jacket.  He then told us a joke that went like this: A giraffe walks into a bar and lies down.  A little bit later, a guy comes in and says, “Who’s lying on the floor?”  The bartender replies, “That’s not a lion, it’s a giraffe!”
Mr. Dean wearing the jacket.
After Band, I had a short study hall and then went to lunch.  We had mini corndogs today!  They were delicious, well as delicious as school food can be.  After lunch, I went to English.  We did our Hot Tip #10 and then started a new project.  We are making movies using the iPad app called Puppet Pals.  We were given a topic and we have to teach the other what it is through our movie.  That reminds me, I need to finish our script for it tonight.
Off to Business Trends, we worked in our books for a little bit and then watched a couple presentations.  Next, we had P.E.  Today, my group had circuits which are NOT fun! I’m always sore after them.  P.E. was our last class; I headed home.
When I got home, I had a quick snack and then set off to sell Deli International for our music fundraisers.  That’s about it for the day!  Now, I should probably go and finish the rest of my homework, but I’ll end with a joke.
Joke courtesy of Mr. Dean.

Thursday one more day till Friday. Today in Geography we read out of our geography book. Math we did lesson 6-9. Reading we are reading a play “The Diary of Anne Frank”. Also during Reading we had a practice lock down drill we all had to go to one pacific corner in the room and then we had to sit there quietly for a few min. in the dark. After those few min. were up we had an administrator open the door and tell us that it was over and we could go back to what we were doing. In Science we are working on our Newton’s laws we have to make a video that had one of the laws that we picked (out of the 3). Then we have lunch and then we get to go to English. English we are writing about our favorite place descriptive writing that we have to have one of our parents read and then on of our peers have to read it to and sign a sheet that Mrs. Troester handed out to us. Well it is off to my other 2 classes so lets hope they go well.

Hello, everyone this the second post i logged in the past two months. In English we have begun the final push in our CBL projects and have been preparing for the state writing assesment which will take place in two weeks. The way we prepare for the assesment is by doing practice essays and grading them the way the professinals would. In other news the are only four more teams left in the NFL playoffs: The Falcons, 49ers, Patriots and Ravens. I hope to see Atlanta face off against Baltimore come Super Bowl Sunday to see which bird will rule the skies.

English Work
Today in Mr. Hesse’s learned some geography. We read two sections in the book and answered three questions. It isn’t that hard so we had time to get it done in class. The next class that I had was the all-famous English! We started of with our Hot Tips # 8. Hot tips are to help us for when the state wide riding test comes. Also in English we revised our important place description. We first looked over it ourselves then we had a partner peer review. My partner was Andrea; she is a great writer and friend. Then we headed off to science everyone worked on their Newton’s Laws of motion demonstration videos. Annie and I worked together on it and we exported and sent them to our teacher, Mr. Morrow. After science some of us went to reading. We studied our vocabulary lesson for the week, and then we started in our reading books. In them we are reading a play that was made from Anne Frank’s Diary. In class I read Meip’s (pronounced: meep) part. In study hall we worked on our homework or IXL for math. In Math we learned about rotations with shapes. In Business Trends we learned about people that are entrepreneurs in our town. Then to end the day we played table tennis, pickle ball, circuits, or went to the weight room. I played table tennis which was so much fun! Well I hope that you had an eventful like the O’Neill eighth graders did.

1-9-13 by Bailey

Well 1-9-13 was a normal day as usual.  Same old school on this same old Wednesday.

We started the day off with Mr. Hesse class and did some geography.

In English class we did our special thing essay.  We are getting ready for the NESA testing.  The NESA test is a state wide test that you write about what ever subject they give to you.

Today was a good day. To start off the day my History class had our presentations due. I used Prezi.com for my presentation because i like the cool things you can do on it. After that I had Algebra 1 and I love my Algebra class. It is always so fun, but there is actual learning going on. Then I had Science. I really like Science with Mr. Morrow because the way he teaches us makes it easy to learn and remember things. He lets us teach the class and teach him, even though he already knows what is going on. When we come to class he reviews everyday so that the information stick in our head, he has us be more handed on learners and that helps a lot.

After science I have reading and after lunch I have English. Today in English class we started off with our daily grammar practice. With that we practice writing sentences, correcting the incorrect grammar, and rewriting sentences so they are not a run on sentence. After that we moved onto revising our Lunch Room stories. Some of us had good useful feedback and others didn't. It all worked out though. I moved onto career guidance. In career guidance we looked at the results of our online tests and saw what career possibilities we have and the courses we would have to take in high school and collage to have that job.
