Dec. 18 by Serena

Today, December 18, everyone is excited. It is a week before Christmas break. We have a lot to prepare for! First we have math class; we did skills 6-3, it's on Angel. Then it was science we made these awesome cars! Thanks to my amazing partner who knows how to build cars because I'm not that good at making things like that. Our car was pretty good. It went down the ramp but we didn't finish our timings. Then it was history. Mr. Hostert is funny, he tells these jokes and I love how he says the same exact thing every single day. That's impressive I would get bored. Then it was off to reading we had to do a level set on quiz let which I thought was easy; I hope I did good. Then we read our books. After that is study hall, I never really do much in that class though. Then it was lunch but I forgot what we had. I went out to eat. In english we listened to the rest of our book the Bronx Masquerade. We also made pictures on the ipad's using poems from a character in the book. Then it was AG we learned about dairy. We got to make homemade ice cream; it was yummy. We had PE after that. Walking the track was really cold!

Today we share poems that we worked on in English I shared my name poem. We then read Bronx Masquerade. Tonight I have to go home and really study my poetic vocabulary. My second period class is science. We worked on our cars that we are soon going to race. Third period is reading. We only took a teen-biz level set today, then we read our books. I am reading City of Ashes. Its in a series called the Mortal Instruments; very good book so far! Fourth period we also took a test. Fifth is my study hall. Then I go to algebra. Easy lesson today! Then I have business trends; we are making a business and logos for it. Eighth period is PE. I lifted weights. Well today was mostly like others. Average day at O’Neill High School.

Today it is a week until Christmas and we have 2 full days and 1 day we get out at 1:30 pm not counting today. We are studying for test. We worked on I-pads for poetry. In science we are building small cars. In reading we had a test. The 5 themes projects for Geography today where due. Also today we went under some kind of  lock down cause of a thing in Plainview. Note this just ended up being a drill. Schools are Getting Jumpy cause of what happened in Connecticut. Schools are being very precautious. I wouldn’t blame them. Sorry I didn't have a picture.

In all fairness, I won't lie. I was very tired today so my minds kind of fuzzy. Let's start off with my first period class. In Math class we basically just learned a new addition to our math storage. The lesson was mostly on graphs about them being continuous or discrete. Then comes 2nd period which is Science, well for me at least. We got into our little groups and started our cars. We built and built until it was time to go. Next was Social Studies where I was reluctant to go. I can tell you why. Test time. It was open book, but I was still worried. Though I did complete it. We move on to Reading. It was time for the seasonal Teenbiz reading level standard. After Reading came 5th period know as Study Hall. I had a study period for a fourth of the time, but then moved to the Choir room. We sang random music since that week we decided to be, well random. The familiar bell rings and it's time for Lunch. For me it's one of my favorite places to be in school. You get to talk to your friends for a whole like an hour what else would be better. Ok, it comes to the next period. It's English time and I am nervous to speak one of poems to everyone in the classroom. But hearing everyone go around, I did it without hesitation. We even had time to reading the Bronx Masquerade. I personally really like the book. In addition to this school day is 7th period. Mine is Business Trends, but I know others have different classes. Basically we discussed how our business were going and some additions we would have to add. Finally came the last period. Group three had the weight room today so for P.E. I was doing all kinds of exercise. I don't know what was happening in the other room next door. Well, I feel like I covered everything I needed to. That was how my school day went.

Hey!!!

Happy Thursday. Today in our first 3 classes we learned a lot. In Geography we learned about what happened in the Middle East. In Reading, we talked about our essay questions for the Book Thief.

Book Thief Review Questions

In English, we looked at the song Firework by Katy Perry. Then we used our poetry themes to decide what each line means in the song. Mrs. Morrow then showed us the video of the tornado that tore apart the whole school in Joplin, Missouri.

Friday, Dec. 14 by Lauren

Hey readers!
Friday was a day FULL of things to do! I started out by hanging out in Mrs. Kelly’s room, like I do every morning, and then I went to first period algebra. Considering the fact that I hate math, it’s always fun to take a test at eight in the morning (NOT!) I went to science next, where we worked on an experiment for most of the class period.  In geography, we went through a normal day’s routine of geography questions, geography terms, and did the “For What It’s Worth”. We also drew for the Dr. Pepper, and I won!
 NOT MY PHOTO.
Then, it was time for reading class. We read The Book Thief for most of the class period. It was then time for band!  We played through our pep band music, including songs like “Let it Rock”, “We Will Rock You”, and “Illinois Loyalty”, or better known as the OHS school song. In choir, we sight-read through some music.
After lunch, I went to English class. We wrote a LOT of poetry. We wrote a name poem, which is supposed to be what you stand for, and a first and last lines poem, where we chose what our first line was from a list and what our last line would be from another.  Here’s my first and last lines poem:

After burning my brain out trying to write, I went to Ag. All we did is read out of the book. I then went to P.E, where I lifted weights. I’m still really sore! We had a basketball game, too. We lost, but we played well enough to finish the season on a high note.
 ***
I also want to address something that happened today in a place very far away from small-town, Nebraska. In Newtown, Conneticut, there was a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. Twenty-six people were shot and killed, and the majority of the victims were six and seven year olds. I wrote a poem dedicated to them, too.

Thanks for reading (If  you got this far, it must’ve been okay)

Today I woke up around 10 o’clock; I clumsily walked to the couch and turned on the TV. Sadly, nothing good was on and I was kind of hungry so I made myself some bacon and an egg, very yummy! I decided I was a colonial genius and was going to make cookies, too. I found a recipe and started mixing and pouring. I preheated and placed them in the oven, 10 minutes later I checked on them, they had all mashed together and started to bubble and sizzle. At this point I’m wondering how bad I had to screw up to make sugar cookies into one sugary mass that resembled a giant corn flake. I have decided I will never make cookies again, well at least sugar cookies. Other than that my day hasn’t been too bad, you know except I was stuck dog sitting. If all the dogs were alone they would be great, but together they bark at everything and cannot get along, if one even looks at another they growl and bark. Anyway, after the cooking disaster I decided to clean up and start my homework. I believe I’ve caught up to the present, now. So, basically it’s been a great day away from school and I might actually be happy to be back to school and away from the smell of sizzled cookies.(:

Today in English class, Mrs.morrow gave us a paper that had a song lyric and it had poetry as well in it. The song was by Katy Perry. We had to Identify the figurative language in the boxes. We got to listen to the song too. Then we reviewed it. Then we listened to Bronx Masquerade. A lot of people worked their tails on participating in class. Great work!! In math we are studying about angles.
They are kind of tricky. In world Geo we are studying the parts Modern Middle East. Very exciting stuff. In science we are studying about Speed distance over time. That's today's school day.
Thanks for reading this.
Oh I all most forgot Merry Christmas!
