Wednesday, Oct. 24 by Sabrina F.

This week is our schools fall break, and we get out early on Thursday and don’t have school on Friday! That’s always something to look forward too. Also on Thursday, our football team has qualified for the 1st round of the play-offs against Grand Island CC. Also, our volleyball team had a game against Pierce at Norfolk Catholic for the Mid State tournament, and for our FFA group, there is a national convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Other than what’s going on for our athletics and other activities, in English class we started talking about a writing essay called, “Patriot’s Pen.” Which is a contest that our towns local VFW Hall holding for anyone that wants to get a chance of winning a reward if they have the best essay. It has to be written as a persuasive paper. The theme is, “What Would I Tell America’s Founding Fathers?”  Mrs. Troester had us go to website called wall wisher, where we could post our ideas for the whole 8th grade to see. It was hard to choose just one topic because there were so many of them to choose from. I picked the flag. I picked it because I could tell about what the colors really stand for, and it's also important to my family. But anyways, today we finished our essay map and started our first draft. They have to be at least 5 paragraphs and between 300-400 words only.

Our faces on the iPad's
Also, we got our school got our 2nd Lip Dub done! There were girls dressed as bumblebees, guys in suits, science teachers with skeletons, my friends and I with boas, and much more dancing to the Gangman Style. Some of the JH basketball girls took pictures of ourselves on iPad and switched the iPad’s with each other to make it look like we had different faces. The video is on YouTube with almost 300 views and it was posted today at 8th period. The Lip Dub that was made 2 years ago has got over 40,000 views!
Our school has many things going on that get all of us pumped up for the coming year. The lip dub was a great way to start the fall break off, and get ready for play-offs. Even though there is so much more going on in the school, that sums up a just one day at O'Neill JR/SR High School.
